Theory tests with support

Do you have dyslexia, ADHD or something that means you need support when reading? Apply for a theory test with support. You can apply for an extended test time, oral test support or a theory test with an interpreter.

Theory test with extended duration

The test is done in the same way as the normal theory test. You will be seated in a room with other people, and you will be given more time to do the test. By the computer are headphones and a calculator, and you can choose if you want to listen to the questions in Swedish.

Oral test support

Oral tests can also be done with an interpreter or a sign language interpreter, in which case the test duration is 120 minutes. 

Oral test read out to you

Test procedure:

  • You do the test in a separate room.
  • The examiner is seated in front of a computer screen and reads out questions and multiple choice answers.
  • You are seated at your own screen on which you see test questions as well as images and videos associated with the questions.
  • You indicate the answer that you think is correct from among the choices provided.
  • The test duration is 90 minutes.
  • You will be told immediately after the test if you passed or failed. 

Adapted oral test

Test procedure:

  • You do the test in a separate room.
  • The examiner is seated in front of a computer screen and asks you the questions orally.
  • On your screen you see images, videos and sometimes keywords. You answer orally. 
  • The test duration is 90 minutes.
  • You will be told immediately after the test if you passed or failed. 

Theory test with an interpreter

Test procedure:

  • You are seated in a separate room with the examiner and the interpreter.
  • The examiner is seated in front of a computer screen and reads out questions and multiple choice answers in Swedish.
  • You are seated at your own screen on which you see test questions, images and videos.
  • The interpreter translates into your language.
  • You indicate on your screen that answer that you think is correct from among the choices provided.
  • You will be told immediately after the test if you passed or failed.

Adapted commercial theory test

You can apply for an extended test time for all types of commercial theory tests. You can also apply to take the theory test for the certificate of professional competence orally.


Apply for a theory test with support

The person taking the test must be the one applying. Apply by logging in to the e-service with your BankID. When you apply, you will need to fill in:

  • Your contact information
  • Why you need a theory test with support
  • Attach a certificate or report indicating your diagnosis that shows that you need special support. The person certifying your application must have the right skills to be able to assess what adaptations you will need for the test. Examples may include a special needs teacher, staff at certain driving schools or an SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) teacher.

When your application has been approved

When your application has been approved, you can book your test directly using the booking service, via your driving school or with our customer service team on 0771 17 18 19. The theory test with an interpreter is booked via customer service.

FAQ

Your application can be certified by, for example:

  • a special needs teacher or special educational needs teacher.
  • a speech therapist or other type of specialist.
  • a teacher at a school.
  • a teacher at an SFI school.
  • staff at a driving school.

No, you will need to book a new test to get the kind of adaptation you need.
